Making music at home can happen everyday with a baby. Being a Music teacher myself, I'm more inclined to encourage musical activities during our day, but it's quite easy to make music part of your everyday routine. We start off every morning listening to music: classical, jazz, folk... you name it! I recently purchased a percussion set by Melissa and Doug that Myla loves! Her favorite piece in the set is the maraca, but she is starting to get the hang of the tambourine, too. There are a few small parts, so I make sure I am always present and participating with her when we use these instruments. What's great about percussion instruments is that they can accompany any recording you are listening to. Whether you are keeping a steady beat or copying a rhythmic phrase in the music, percussive instruments are a great way to explore music!
